About the Product

Guru Foods Idli Premix is specially developed for preparing soft, light and fluffy South Indian-style Idli with reduced preparation effort.

Traditional idli preparation generally involves soaking rice and urad dal, grinding them separately or together, preparing the batter and managing fermentation. The premix format helps simplify these preparation steps.

Simply mix the recommended quantity of Idli Premix with water and/or other ingredients specified on the product pack to prepare a smooth batter.

Allow the batter to rest or ferment only as recommended for the actual formulation. Pour the prepared batter into greased idli moulds and steam until the idlis are properly cooked, soft and fluffy.

The premix helps maintain consistent taste, softness, rise, texture and appearance from batch to batch.

Ingredients

A typical Idli Premix may contain:

Rice Flour, Urad Dal Flour (Black Gram Flour), Salt and other suitable ingredients.

Depending on the actual formulation, it may also contain ingredients such as Flattened Rice (Poha) Powder, Fenugreek, Starch, Acidity Regulators, Raising/Leavening Agents or other permitted ingredients.

The final ingredient declaration must always correspond with the actual formulation and approved product packaging.

Any acidity regulators, raising agents or other food additives should only be declared when actually present.

How to Prepare

  1. Take the required quantity of Guru Foods Idli Premix in a clean mixing bowl.
  2. Gradually add the recommended quantity of water.
  3. Mix thoroughly until a smooth and lump-free batter is formed.
  4. Allow the batter to rest or ferment for the recommended time, if required by the formulation.
  5. Lightly grease the idli moulds.
  6. Pour the prepared batter into each mould without overfilling.
  7. Place the moulds in a preheated idli steamer.
  8. Steam until the idlis are properly cooked and fluffy.
  9. Remove from the steamer and allow them to rest briefly.
  10. Demould carefully and serve hot.

Preparation Ratio

The exact premix-to-water ratio, resting/fermentation requirement and steaming time should be followed according to the approved preparation instructions printed on the product pack.

Correct batter consistency is important for achieving the desired rise, softness and texture.
